Mardi Gras

So, you’re considering New Orleans, during Mardi Gras. It is a lot of fun and staying with us at the India House is truly an awesome experience to enhance Mardi Gras.

The Hostel is located close to the 3200 block of Canal St. and South Lopez St. beside the Sacred Heart Church. To those unfamiliar, Canal St. plays host to many of Mardi Gras’ great Parades. The most popular and well known “Super Float ” Parade is the Krewe Of Endymion.

The parades pass within sight of the Hostel and as evening rolls along and darkness descends on the area, the noise of the Krewe Bands can be heard in the distance as they ready to roll along Canal St. and pass close the India House. Just the sight alone of the “Flambeaux Carriers ” parading past with their open light torches, the beating of the parade band drums and the wonderfully exciting floats is a sight to be seen.

Mid-City boasts a proud tradition of hosting many fine parades in a family atmosphere, where young and old mingle with excitement to capture many of the fun “throws”. Ranging from Great Doubloons, Cups and a wide variety of Beads…the atmosphere is electric.

We at India House are also host to many wonderful guests at this time of year. Some are regular annual visitors to our Hostel, who are true experts at enjoying one of the World’s Best City Parties.
